Haiku Twitter, Seattle Overbooked
Submitted by bradfucious on Sat, 25/07/2009 - 14:02.
I have another topic I want to post on later, but I need to come up with direct quotes, citations and a cleverer title before I do that. It involves heat...or an entire regions skewed perspective of all things sunlight. Instead, now I post brief ruminations about things that are interesting, but only just:
* Twitter is interesting to me, but I am not using it the way that I probably should. I am only following a handful of people, and I have a roughly equal tally of followers. I am going to try out using Haiku or perhaps iambic pentameter as my method of posting (for a while, at least) and then branch out by beginning to use topic hashes and following more people.
* I want to plan things, if for no other reasons than to place obstacles between my dogs and the areas of very soft soil that make for easy digging (and relatively easy means of escape, if they are so inclined...which I believe them to be).
* Seattle is packed this weekend. I mean PACKED. Between the Mariners games, the Sounders match, the Seafair (and associated activities) and the Capitol Hill Block Party, they are predicting a lot of visitors, blocked off avenues and traffic jammed highways. As such, we have decided to try our hand at completing the unpacking and giving the house a good cleaning. I plan on drinking and watching Sarah do all of the work (joking).
* Having my sister out this past week proved a few things to us: we can bring color to our typical pallid skin; we do enjoy hiking; sometimes free things are more fun and memorable than those that cost money; you can get a good plate of Mexican food in Seattle, even if it means waiting 30 minutes for a table and then having to endure the drunken ramblings of some guy named Bobby; my sister is an adult now, and adult decisions are in the offing.
* You don't always have to like what you do, but you should - at the very least - do the best job that you can. It helps if you keep the whinging and moaning to a minimum, as there are much worse things out there.
* Geektool is an on-again/off-again obsession of mine, and trying to find a great way to display heads-up system information has become a pass-time for me again this week. I'll try to post some screens and commands/scripts this week after I've had a chance to play around some more (Still trying to decide if I want to use 2.1.2 or 3b).
Bye for now.
